A dearth of highly desirable new vehicles
combined with rising prices is driving some new vehicle shoppers to
the sidelines, at least until the market gets back to normal.
Patiently waiting for the vehicle you want, may not yield the result
you expect in today’s market. Potential buyers are facing a difficult
market these days as the most popular new vehicles, mainly trucks and
crossovers, are in short supply due to the semiconductor shortage.
Compounding the problem is the good ol’ laws of supply and demand —
the more someone wants something, the more it’s going to cost. Average
transaction prices for new vehicles have been steadily rising,
surpassing the $42, 000 mark in July, according to Cox Automotive,
which set another new record. Other analysts are seeing similar
numbers as well. Some buyers have been waiting for ......
The financial impact of the semiconductor
shortage continues to grow and now stands at an estimated $210 billion
dollars in lost automotive revenues, according to a new study.
Automakers are expected to lose even more vehicles to the chip
shortage this year. That’s nearly twice the $110 billion financial hit
initially forecast by AlixPartners in May and reflects the increasing
likelihood automakers will continue struggling to find the chips they
need through at least the early part of 2022. Industry leaders had
been hoping the issue would be resolved by this autumn. The continuing
shortages will impact car buyers and carmakers alike, experts warn.
“Of course, everyone had hoped that the chip crisis would have abated
more by now, but unfortunate events such as the COVID-19 lockdowns in
Malaysia and continued problems elsewhere have exacerbated things, ”
said Mark Wakefield, the ......

I'm sure you've seen the post a hundred
times while car shopping. "I love this car but with baby on the way
its just not practical anymore". Question is relevant for anyone but
I'm more curious about those who sold to trade passion for cash. I
think it's about that time for myself, maybe. Dad life is coming down
the pipeline and I'd love to keep it but is it the best decision? I'm
confident I could swing it financially but boy would it be great to
have the cash ya kno. So reddit, do you wish you'd kept that car?

I took my car to a carwash the other day
because the dealership offered a free carwash, and I had a panic
attack. I realized that I have an irrational fear of going through a
car wash. The sounds freak me out and when those big machines with the
spaghetti arms engulf your car its super freaky. I can't see anything
but I just hear the slapping of the car. Its really hard to see and it
just freaks me the hell out. The last time I did it I almost had a
panic attack because it was so freaky and unsettling to me. It was
really late (8:30PM), I was alone and it was dark out. I wanted to
leave but my car was literally engulfed by the machines and I couldn't
move, and thats when I began to panic. I couldnt see anything because
there was soap everywhere ......
Seriously, I'm STOKED. I've owned a truck
literally my whole life, My first truck was a 1970 Ford F100, then a
2007 Isuzu I-290, and finally for the last 5 years I've owned a 1998
Mazda B4000. My family has owned trucks as well, Fords, Chevys,
Toyotas, Dodges, the lot. I'm of the opinion that EVERY family should
have a truck Period. The problem is, Trucks are either too
impractical, and/or too expensive, or used they tend to be completely
worn out by the time they go up for sale at a "reasonable" price, or
they are too big, or one of a million other reasons a person doesn't
want to own a truck. But with all the joy and versatility that comes
from owning a truck there are some serious drawbacks. Namely all the
people you might have known at some point in your life that DON'T own
